Gone is the eye poking, FCB conspiracy theorist, controversial “special one” from the Bernabeu. Brought in to dethrone Barcelona and capture that elusive “decima”, 10th European Cup title; he was relatively successful (glass half full) or somewhat a failure (glass half empty).
Mourinho never really got on the same page with his players, and most notably Real Madrid’s prized possession Christiano Ronaldo. We all remember Ramos’ shaky relationship with Mourinho, Casillas’ demotion to a bench warmer, and most recently Mourinho referring to C. Ronaldo as NOT being the “real Ronaldo”.
Whether it was Mourinho’s play calling style (very conservative against FCB), Barcelona seemingly winning everything, the 5-0 rout in his first clasico; something was just not sitting right. Although Mourinho was supposed to stay at the Bernabeu until 2016, he coached his last game as Madrid’s HC in a 4-2 win over Osasuna at the Bernabeu, in last season’s final League match.
Quotes from Jose Mourinho of Chelsea FC after loss to Real Madrid
Mourinho now heads north, and returns to Chelsea. In comes Carlo Ancelotti, to take over a divided locker room, and yet again – the search of European glory and dominance over Barcelona. Having previously dealt with prima donnas such as Ibrahimovic in Paris, we will see how he fares at the Bernabeu. By the way, mention-worthy among his assistants, a Frenchman named Zinedine Zidane; the one that last led Madrid to a European Cup.
In his first “test” (although in a relatively friendly, low key competition) he won his first trophy with the club, the International Champions Cup (ICC) against none other than Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. A win in which the Portuguese Ronaldo struck twice in a 3-1 Madrid win.
Another great La Liga season is looming upon us folks, interesting signings, new coaches, this should be a very interesting one; or should I say another great 2 horses race.

The New England Revolution falls 3-0 to Sporting Kansas at Livestrong Sporting Park tonight in front of 19, 988 fans. Kamara Kei headed in a goal midway through the first half and added another one early in the second half to give the host a comfortable lead against the visiting Revolution. Kamara combined with Soony Saad on both occasions.
The Revolution who came to Kansas City after a disappointed home loss to Toronto FC last week, started the match with a twisted line-up that featured Kevin Alston at right-back. Thus, moving Chris Tierney to his natural left mid-fielding position. Kelyn Rowe started for Juan Toja was the other change to the starting line-up.
The first goal of the match came in the 27th minute courtesy of Kamara Kei who would eventually wins the man of the match. Kamara beat Kevin on a cross by Soony Saad from the left side.
Sporting KC entered the half with the one goal lead over the Revolution.
Kamara scored once more a little bit after the half to increase the score for Sporting KC. Soony and Kamara partnered another time to score on nearly the same play that resulted in the first goal.
Things got worse for the Revs in the 64th minute when referee Baldomero Toledo issued a second yellow to Dimitry Imbongo which automatically translated into a red card for the young striker.
The best chance of the night for the visitors came in the 80th minute when Chad Barrett maneuvered past All Star defender Matt Besler to earn a one on one with KC’s goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen. Nielsen made a play on the ball to preserved the shutout.
Imbongo was not the only Revolution play who got ejected in this match, Andy Dorman who replaced Lee Nguyen became the second player from the visiting team to be ejected after challenging Kamara at midfield. Kamara left the field with the assist of the team staff.
Benny Feilhaber scored in the dying minutes against his former team on a free-kick from the top of the box to add the third and last goal of the match.
New England (8-9-6) will be at home next Saturday to face Chicago Fire while Sporting will travel to San Jose to face the Earthquakes on Sunday.
Line-ups:
New England Revolution: Bobby Shuttleworth, Kevin Alston (Diego Fagundez 57), Jose Goncalves ©, Stephen McCarthy, Andrew Farrell, Chris Tierney, Kelyn Rowe, Scott Caldwell, Lee Nguyen (Andy Dorman 71), Saer Sene (Chad Barrett 63), Dimitry Imbongo

The Juan Agudelo talks to the EPL are now confirmed by both Stoke City and the New England Revolution, his soon to be former team. However, Juan will not be able to move to his new team until January 2014, when his deal with the Revolution expires. Therefore, he signs a pre-contract with the Potters.
Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was the first official on either side to comment on a potential acquisition of the young US star. On an appearance on BBC Radio Stoke, the manager expressed hopes that the deal would be done and both sides were willing to make it happens.
Both clubs involved in the trade released a statement on Friday to confirm the news. The Revolution’s statement mentioned that they knew this opportunity could present itself when they traded for Agudelo a couple months ago.
“Juan is a talented player and he has put himself into a position to have options abroad at the end of his MLS contract this December. We always knew there was a possibility he would choose to explore these opportunities when we traded for him earlier this year, and we’re happy for Juan that he has earned this opportunity at Stoke.” Added the MLS club in the release.
“We’re looking forward to his return to the field with us for the remainder of the season as soon as he is back and fit from his recent injury.”
Stoke City manager Mark Hughes revealed that he has been following the young US star for 18 months and delighted about the acquisition.
“We’ve put a lot of work into this deal, and I am delighted that we have managed to get the deal over the line ». Stated Mark.
“It’s a good deal for us, because he is a very good young player who boasts a lot of talent as well as a lot of potential too. I’ve known of him for a couple of years now. He burst on to the scene for the United States at the age of 17 and everybody has paid attention to him since. I have kept my eye on him for the last 18 months, and thankfully we were in a position where we were able to pull this deal off.”
Agudelo who plays for the US national team won’t be the lone young US striker who will be joining the EPL; he will be following the footsteps of Jozy Altidore who went to Sunderland a month ago. Agudelo will be the fourth American player on Stoke City’s roster. His fellow USA internationals Geoff Cameron, Brek Shea and Maurice Edu are already playing for the Potters.
Juan will be moving to his forth club in his young career. The 20 year old Columbia-born striker started his pro career in the MLS with the New York Red Bulls back in 2010 then was traded to Chivas USA two years later in exchange for defender Heath Pearce and other considerations. He lasted a year with Chivas before being traded again, this time to New England where he had a promising start scoring 3 goals in 5 matches. Unfortunately, he suffered a right knee injury in the 3-1 defeat to D.C. United in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup semifinals two months ago. He has been out from the pitch for the Revs since then.
